People who live in areas with “soft water” are in for a rude awakening when they travel to another city that has “hard water.” “Hard water” is caused when the surrounding land has a high concentration of chalk, so that the underground watersupply that flows through it picks up a lot of chalk. This chalk-tainted water eventually becomes drinking water. “Hard water” is a nuisance; it clogs up pipes, kettles and other appliances. The taste of “hard water” can also be difficult to stomach, especially for a person unused to it. Many times water companies try to disguise the bad taste of “hard water” by adding chlorine. But the chlorine only serves to make the water taste worse.
People who travel often can’t conveniently bring their water with them. And, after a long day of travelling, when finally settling into a hotel room, most people would be loath to go out to buy a bottle of water. This problem can easily be solved by packing a travel water filter. These portable water filters can allow travelers access to pure-tasting drinking water without the hassle and expense of bottled water.
